Chief Ranger Lachowski and Fire Chief Weikert have been in negotiations to have this 2006 American Lafrance Brush Unit transferred to the Gettysburg Fire Department from The Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area. This unit arrived at the Gettysburg Fire Department on Monday December 11th. In the near future, the unit will be designated as Brush 1. The unit will be in service after a few minor repairs, and ready before the start of the Brush Fire Season.
The Gettysburg Fire Department would like to thank the Gettysburg National Military Park Officials that made this happen. With this agreement, the truck "Stayed Home" in Gettysburg and will still be used to fight fire in the GNMP. A special thanks to Chief Ranger Lachowski, Acting Deputy Park Superintendent Bolitho, The Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area and Chief Weikert for making this happen.
