| On March 14th at 1848 hours Engine 1-1, Engine 1-2, Traffic 1, Intermediate 54-12 and Service 22 (traffic control) were dispatched to US 15 northbound, mile marker 12.6 for a reported car fire.
Engine 1-2 responded with four and arrived to find a Honda Civic with a well-involved engine compartment. Engine 1-2 blocked the slow lane, established command and stretched the bumper line for extinguishment. Due to the location of the incident being just around a curve in the highway, command requested that fire police shut down US 15 northbound at the York Road interchange.
Engine 1-1 arrived and blocked the fast lane while fire police from Gettysburg and Barlow completed the closure at York Road. With the fire knocked and overhaul in progress, Engine 1-1 was released to handle another incident. Engine 1-2 picked up and fire police reopened the fast lane of US 15 northbound. Engine 1-2 returned to service; fire police remained to assist the Pennsylvania State Police with traffic control.
After a brief investigation, it was found that rodents had built a nest out of leaves and similar materials in the engine compartment of the Honda Civic; those materials ignited. Two of the rodents perished in the fire.
