| This year, the Gettysburg Fire Department had two Junior Firefighters, Blaine Weaver and Charlotte Johnson, participate in the 2026 Adams County Firefighter Cadet Academy at the Adams County Training Facility.
The academy lasted a week and brought together Junior Firefighters from departments within Adams County, as well as some from outside the area. The program provided cadets with valuable hands-on training that will benefit them now and in the future. Training included topics such as the history of the fire service, hoseline deployment, ladder skills, SCBA familiarization, CPR, and basic EMS skills.
Cadets stayed at the facility for the entire week, with evening field trips to various departments throughout Adams and York County. These outings offered opportunities to learn about fire service history and enjoy meals and desserts.
The academy concluded with a graduation ceremony on Saturday, July 26. The Gettysburg Fire Department congratulates all members of Cadet Class 2026 and especially our own Junior FF's Weaver & Johnson with their continued success as they build their knowledge and experience in today’s fire service. |
